  1. Is it safe and secure and what is the quality of the water?
    Answer:  When you choose an establishment that is spa standard-compliant, you’re assured they are making available to their clients, equipment in good working order and meeting current standards. The therapists are certified professionals. Water tests are performed regularly according to the law on water quality. Health, hygiene and maintenance standards are rigorously enforced.

  2. How should I dress?
    Answer: Your stay must be conducive to relaxation and we do everything to make it so. You mustn’t present yourself in full dress, come as you are:  no need for makeup, jewelry or city duds. The purpose of this is to take care of you.

  3. Is there a minimum age to be allowed into a spa?
    Answer: Generally, the minimum age requirement to access the site is 16 years old, unless in the case of treatments specific to children. It is important to validate with the establishment before presenting yourself. Children under the age of 16 years must compulsorily be accompanied by an adult or a tutor.

  4. Do I need a reservation to visit a spa?
    Answer:  You must book your treatments prior to presenting yourself at the spa. Certain establishments require a reservation for the thermotherapy cycle (Nordic baths).

    Inquire about the cancellation policy of each establishment.

  5. How much time should I anticipate to do the thermal cycle (Nordic baths)?
    Answer: Foresee approximately 3 hours to complete the thermotherapy cycle (Nordic baths).

  6. What should I bring?
    Answer:  For your comfort, you will need to bring sandals (mandatory).

    If doing the thermotherapy cycle (Nordic baths), a bathing suit and sandals are mandatory. A bathrobe and towels will allow you to benefit from the installation put at your service. A tuque or hat in winter is recommended.

    A bottle of water is recommended to stay hydrated. You’ll be able to fill it at will on the site. No food or alcoholized beverage.

    Note that some items are offered on site either for rent or sale.

    Many establishments can supply a bag for your wet bathing suit.

  7. Is there a secure area to store my personal effects?
    Answer:  All spas put at your disposal a secure area to place your personal effects. In the majority of cases, a locker with key or lock is freely supplied.

    In several establishments, you’ll find lockers including showers with soap and shampoo, toilets, hair dryers and space to undress in complete privacy.

  8. Can I bring my lunch?
    Answer:  At all times, it is FORBIDDEN to bring food or alcohol on site.

    The majority of establishments offer meals, snacks and/or meals with a choice of menus in a space furnished to this end.  Some spas have a liquor license, but the consumption of alcohol is limited to the eating area.

  9. Have the professionals employed at Spas Relais santé® members taken formal training?
    Answer:  ALL therapists and practitioners employed in the Spas Relais santé® network have the obligatory minimum requirements of training, are qualified and where required, are accredited by an association, corporation or a recognized order.

  10. Do I have access to showers?
    Answer: In several of the establishments, you will find in the cloakroom, showers with soap and shampoo, toilets, hairdryers and spaces to change in private.

  11. Can we find lodging on site?
    Answer:   Some of the establishments offer lodging on site ($) or within close proximity. Locate the pictogram.

  12. Should I get there ahead of time?
    Answer:  It is suggested that you get there approximately fifteen minutes before your appointment so that you have time to relax and not feel stressed out. You should feel relaxed from the moment you set foot in a Relais santé® spa member establishment.

  13. Why must we fill out a health sheet?
    Answer:  When you arrive at the spa, prior to receiving the treatment, you must complete a health sheet (or update the file) every time you visit, unless you choose to experience the thermotherapy cycle (Nordic baths).

    This tool is essential so that we may offer treatments adapted to your specific needs and physical condition. You must inform the spa of all health issues, medications prescribed or any other particular constraint.

    For treatments and the thermotherapy cycle (Nordic baths), it is important to validate the contraindications  for pregnant women, people suffering cardiac or pulmonary conditions, victims of cerebral vascular accidents (CVA) and also those where there are deficient circulation. The same goes for people with certain allergies and sicknesses such as cancer and AIDS and people suffering from addiction.

    All information gathered remains strictly confidential.

  14. Must we completely undress to receive treatments?
    Answer:  Note that you can keep wearing your bra, underpants or boxer shorts at all times. However, to assure the constant fluidity of movement for the therapist, it is recommended to remove undergarments. Particularly when receiving a treatment for the sciatic nerve.

    For your comfort and privacy, all Spas Relais santé® therapists are committed in preserving your integrity and modesty. The therapists are trained in draping techniques necessary to perform the treatment while exposing only the zone being treated.

    For clients wishing to remain fully clothed, there exist techniques of massage such as Shiatsu, Amma and the chair massage. We invite you to consult our “Treatments section of our internet site.

    It is important that you remain completely at ease during the treatment, so that you may fully enjoy the experience. Do not hesitate to question the spa about a subject that preoccupies you.

  15. Can we get a ‘fully clothed’ massage?

  16. Can I benefit from treatments if I’m taking medication or have certain health problems?
    Answer:  Do consult your doctor to obtain medical advice if you are taking medication or if you have particular health issues; it is possible certain treatments or therapeutic-use products should be avoided. As supplementary information, we invite you to read our contraindications section for the desired treatments.

    At your arrival, prior to receiving a treatment, a health sheet on your overall health will need to be filled out (or brought up to date), unless you choose to experience the thermotherapy cycle (Nordic baths).

  17. Must I tip the therapist?
    Answer:  The tip is discretionary and up to you and completely non-obligatory.

  18. Are the treatments offered reimbursable by my private or collective insurance?
    Answer:  Most private or collective insurance schemes will reimburse a part of the total of the costs related to massage or naturopathic therapies. The therapists are able to issue receipts for your insurance claims. You need to include the information in your health record or directly ask your therapist.

    Inquire with your insurance company whether they require a prescription from a doctor, and validate the percentage of the cost of treatment is actually reimbursed. When in doubt, contact them directly.

  19. Are the monetary transactions carried out on the Spas Relais santé® internet site secure and confidential?
    Answer:  When a transaction is carried out on the Spas Relais santé® internet site, the SECURITY and CONFIDENTIALITY along with the integrity of the date exchanged during the transmission on the site is GUARANTEED by the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) and S-http (Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol).

  20. Is there an expiration date on the Spas Relais santé® gift certificates?
    Answer:  No, the gift certificates are devoid of an expiration date since July 1st, 2010 (law project 60). However, all certificates bearing an expiration date before June 1st, 2010 are no longer valid.

  21. What treatment can be suggested for a man on his first visit to a spa?
    Answer:  So that he may familiarize himself with the spa universe, we suggest a thermotherapy cycle (Nordic baths), a massage or facial.

  23. Do the Spas Relais santé® members indicate access to people with physical handicaps or reduced mobility?
    Answer:  The thermotherapy cycle (Nordic baths) is NOT adapted in any establishment. However, certain spas have infrastructure in place allowing access to persons with reduced mobility, but treatment access remains limited. We suggest you contact the spa directly to discuss with a professional that will, according to the handicap, be able to advise on the types of treatments offered.

    Please note that the person accompanying is not generally granted free access.
